Airport water run off generally only contains low level contamination with minimal need for treatment. However, particular activities within the airport environment can lead to highly concentrated water run-off. The most widespread and often the most difficult to treat is glycol de-icing solutions. NWS engineers and scientists have extensive experience of treating Glycol de-icer at the UK’s largest Airports.
Other waste streams can include metals run-off from aircraft wash down operations and fire training run-off particularly from the legacy of using fire fighting foams.
